Price Tag: Mamelodi Sundowns’ Stumbling Block In Landing Jeremy Brockie
Head Coach Pitso Mosimane has identified Jeremy Brockie to be his marquee signing in the current July/August transfer window, although the reported price tag on the player’s services is the major stumbling block hindering Mamelodi Sundowns from concluding a deal.
As reported in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, SuperSport United’s head coach, Eric Tinkler, made it clear that he wants Brockie in his plans for the new 2017/18 campaign, however, it seems that SuperSport are now open to losing one of their key players, but not on a cheap price tag.
Siya sources have since informed the crew that management at Matsatsantsa are looking to cash in on R16 million before they let Brockie go, increasing the price tag since their previous demands of R12 million.
With the uncertainty of the future of Khama Billiat, while Leonardo Castro is yet to return to his previous riveting form, indications are that Head Coach Mosimane views the New Zealand international as the missing piece to his puzzle, as he looks to challenge on both domestic and continental fronts.
However, with just eight days left of the current transfer window, it remains to be seen whether Sundowns will be successful in concluding a deal for Brockie, however, as it stands the R16 million price tag could be the main stumbling block in the transfer, unless the two clubs are able to mutually agree on a figure or a potential swap deal.
