Defender With Bucs Deal … And Wits
Potential Tug Of War Looms For Outgoing Stars Defender
The Siya crew can reveal that a potential tug of war could be on the cards between league champions Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates for the services of Thato Thlone.
Despite agreeing to a pre-contract with Wits during the season, Thlone is said to have changed his mind and wants a move to Pirates for next season. The Siya crew has learnt from a reliable source that the defender has signed a contract with Pirates, which is set to commence in July.
At this stage, it is not yet clear which of the two clubs will be welcoming the left back to their pre-season training, with information on the Siya crew’s desk indicating that there is an agreement for him to be with both clubs next season.
“The player has signed with Pirates. It’s a complicated situation. There was an agreement (a) long time ago for him to join Pirates, but as to how he also signed with Wits remains unclear,” said the source.
The Siya crew reported on Bucs’ interest in the former Kaizer Chiefs development player three weeks ago, despite him having already signed a pre-contract with Wits. The Students announced in January that they secured the services of Tlhone, ‘with effect from 1 July 2017.’
Thlone has left Free State Stars as his contract with the club will officially expire at the end of this month. The Siya crew will keep you posted on Thlone and his future for the new season.
