Onyango’s Absence Explained

Onyango’s Absence Explained

By Soccer Laduma - Jul 24, 2017 08:31 PM
There may have been reports of Maritzburg United’s Brian Onyango being AWOL amid talk of a Mamelodi Sundowns move, however, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Onyango has been linked with a move away from the Team of Choice of late with Masandawana known to have shown an interest in him, and reports this week have suggested that he hasn’t provided a reason for not training with the club.

The Siya crew did some digging into the situation and have since been informed that the Kenyan is still in his home country, but that the reason is that he is having issues with his visa.

According to Siya sources, the 23-year-old is expected to return to South Africa in the next few days to team up with Fadlu Davids and his team once again, with his document issues due to being sorted out imminently.

Onyango played 21 Absa Premiership games for Maritzburg last season, scoring four goals during his second campaign in the PSL.

Seems most comments by some club bosses are made out of jealous without real facts and trying to blame other people for their failures. Secondly, SL did contact Maritzburg chairman to get a comment from him when the player was alleged to have gone AWOL. It would be more logical for SL to once again to contact the Maritzburg chairman and hear what he will say now.

So that Maritzburg united chairman with long beard must come forward and apologise for talking nonsense by accusing Downs to be behind their Onyango's missing, Downs will not pursue signing Onyango, our foreign quota is full, we dont have space for a foreign national unless it's Neymar,CR7 or Messi where we will sacrifice some from what we already have but as for an average player like Onyango, hell NO

I think Downs should use other clubs to buy players. E.g. if they want to buy Onyango, they should ask Free State Stars to put an offer. Not knowing Downs is behind it. Remember how Kenny Niemach was signed by K/Chiefs via Manning Rangers, from Downs.

This is one good defender i would like to see at Naturena. He reminds me Musa Otiano Ongao. He had a knack of scoring goals.

Kadodia is furious because Sundowns(Pitso) didnt want to pay big amount of money for Deolin Mekoa who was Sundowns main target, one can see that he is speaking out of anger,Sundowns and Maritzburg have done business deals before, and Sundowns have been following the right procedures.I can count the likes Ronnie Kanalelo,Kurt Leintjies,Musa Nyatama,Cuthbert Malajila,Kwanda Mngonyama,Reece Evans the list is endless and all these players have moved between the two teams but this time around Sundowns didnt want pay huge amounts of money as it is always the case now Kadodia is furious because he ddint get his LOTTO NUMBERS right

"I don't know exactly why Brian is delaying his stay in Kenya, speak to Mamelodi Sundowns – ask them why all the players they have targeted everywhere are not training [with their respective clubs]," Kadodia tells INDIDANE. "It is not only Brian Onyango, but Rivaldo Coetzee at Ajax Cape Town as well as Dumisani Zuma at Celtic, and I don't know who else they are targeting. "The player [Onyango] still has a contract but I'll deal with that at the right time. But as I'm saying to you now, whatever information you want [about Onyango] is to try and speak to Sundowns and ask what is the process and why all the players they are targeting are not at training with their clubs." Sundowns spokesperson Thulani Thuswa has since responded to Kadodia's claims, distancing themselves from any dubious tactics while confirming that they have in fact rescinded their interest in the Kenyan international. "The chairman should be talking about Maritzburg United players, and the other clubs should speak for their own players," Thuswa responds to INDIDANE "Similarly we are not responsible for Brian Onyango, only for Sundowns players to attend training sessions. Sundowns and Brian Onyango have not engaged. "We've engaged with Maritzburg United because we know the right channels to follow. When we did so we quickly realised that our engagements were failing and we've since revoked our interest in Brian Onyango. "I'm not sure why Brian Onyango is unsettled, but it has nothing to do with us." It is believed Maritzburg want in the region of R8-million for the stocky centre-back, and have rejected a proposed swap deal with Kwanda Mngonyama.
