One More New Club In The NFD?
Milano United Has Reportedly Been Sold
Milano United might have finally found a buyer for the club’s National First Division status, with indications that the club could be set to relocate from the Western Cape to another province for the 2017/18 season.
The club has been keen to sell their NFD status, as reported in Soccer Laduma. The Siya crew has been informed that a Limpopo businessman has reached an agreement with Milano to buy their second tier franchise with plans of wanting to relocate the team to Johannesburg where he is based.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Alex Bapela, is said to be the one who will be coaching the team in the upcoming season.
“There is a new Milano that is based in Jo’burg. Milano United has been sold. It has been sold to a businessman who has been involved with Baberwa FC. Baberwa is the team that has been campaigning in the ABC Motsepe League in Gauteng. The owner of the club is ambitious. He has already started recruiting players for the team’s NFD campaign. The team’s coach is Alex Bapela,” said the source.
Since the end of last season, the PSL has already approved transactions for sales of three clubs.
Thanda Royal Zulu’s PSL status has been sold to AmaZulu and Richards Bay FC has taken the place of Thanda in the NFD, while Ubuntu Cape Town Football Club bought the NFD status of FC Cape Town.
