Manyama Dropped As Window Draws To A Close

Manyama Dropped As Window Draws To A Close

By Soccer Laduma - Aug 26, 2017 03:59 PM
Reigning Absa Premiership Player of the Season, Lebogang Manyama, has been dropped by Cape Town City amid talk of a possible exit.

The Siya crew has already reported that the 26-year-old has informed City of his desire to take the next step in his career, however he has since started all three games this season.

It has also been revealed that Turkish club, Konyaspor, are in talks with City regarding a possible move, while Mamelodi Sundowns are desperate to sign him as well.

Now, with less than a week left of the transfer window, Siya sources have indicated that Benni McCarthy has decided to drop Manyama from the squad that will face Bidvest Wits this weekend.

While the exact reason for his absence isn't known, the crew have been informed that the player is fit and has not been left out due to any injury concerns.

Manyama is the second big-name to be dropped this weekend amid speculation surrounding his future, with SuperSport also omitting Jeremy Brockie for their MTN8 game.

@Katlego_Kay Dear Kat this is RDP ANALYSIS, With utmost respect I beg to differ from your first opinion and concur with you on the second one. Psychologically a player, in this instance Manyama is irking to still prove a point to the world of football, especially the poachers that he is still worth his salt. Of course, in the same vein this overly eagerness may cause him injuries, thus my conccurance with you on physicality factor my learned blogger. Furthermore from the club to which he is still attached there is a "can do without" syndrome, CDW syndrome. For continuity's sake the club grooms a would-be replacement for the departing player.

@Telele it depends on which angle you view it from. Psychologically a player might not give his all because of his mind being elsewhere. Physically the player may suffer an injury that costs him the move.

But I still think out clubs are unprofessional by dropping players before departure
