Sundowns To Make Decision On Nascimento And Castro
Mamelodi Sundowns To Make Decision On Ricardo Nascimento And Leonardo Castro
Mamelodi Sundowns are set to make a decision regarding their five foreign players as they look to free up space for their new signing, Brimah Razak.
The Brazilians confirmed their first signing ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, after acquiring the services of the Ghanaian international goalkeeper.
However, Sundowns currently have all five of their foreign quota spots filled with, Ricardo Nascimento, Leonardo Castro, Bangalay Soumahoro, Yannick Zakri and Fares Hachi, which means that in order for the Brazilians to register Razak for the new season, Masandawana will either have to release or unregister one of their foreigners currently on their books.
Siya sources within the Chloorkop-based club have since revealed that Nascimento could be one of the players set to make way for the Ghanaian goalkeeper, as the centre back is set to undergo a hernia operation which might keep him on the sidelines for several months. This means that Masandawana could hold off on registering the player for the new season, as he looks to recover from the operation.
However, sources have also added that there is a possibility that Castro might complete a move away from Masandawana in the current transfer window, with the Colombian only having one more year left on his current contract with Sundowns, which means that the club could look to cash in on the player, rather than losing his services on a free at the end of his deal.
Indications are that Head Coach Pitso Mosimane is eager to add the Ghanaian to his roster for the new 2017/18 campaign, with the club confirming that the 30-year-old will add the needed experience in both their domestic and continental campaigns.
