SA International Ends Downs Rumours, Commits To Maritzburg
Mamelodi Sundowns Target, Deolin Mekoa, Has Signed A Long-Term Deal At Maritzburg United
Talk of Deolin Mekoa making the move to Mamelodi Sundowns this window seem to have been quashed completely, with the midfielder penning a long-term deal at his current club.
The 24-year-old has long been linked with a switch to Chloorkop as Pitso Mosimane kept a close eye on his progress with the Team of Choice, however things have looked on the rocks since June when the Siya crew reported that any deal had been put on hold.
Now, with Sundowns starting to turn the screw in the transfer market on the likes of George Lebese and Oupa Manyisa, Maritzburg seem to have won their battle to keep the South African youth international in Pietermaritzburg for the time being.
The crew have been informed that Mekoa, who has made strides in the national team over the past couple of years, has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal with Maritzburg, news that will no doubt be welcomed by his head coach, Fadlu Davids.
Mekoa’s new deal will take him through until the end of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season, and he will be hoping to try and get his hands on some silverware with the Team of Choice, possibly starting with this year’s MTN8.
The midfield man is the second big name to commit to the club after Evans Rusike also signed a new three-year deal.
