Mamelodi Sundowns Target A No Show At Training
Mamelodi Sundowns’ transfer target, Rivaldo Coetzee, has not turned up to the first two days of pre-season with Ajax Cape Town.
The Urban Warriors returned for preseason training yesterday, Monday, July 03, and Siya sources have informed Soccer Laduma that Coetzee was a notable absentee.
On further investigation, the Siya crew has been informed that the player wants to move on from the Cape Town-based club this transfer window and is looking to force the issue by not reporting to pre-season training with the Urban Warriors.
As reported previously on Soccer Laduma, Sundowns have already approached the Cape Town-based club for the services of the 20-year-old Bafana Bafana international, however, it was subsequently revealed to the Siya crew that the club’s chairman, Ari Efstathiou, was recently in talks with clubs in Europe who are believed to also be keen on Coetzee’s services.
Indications are that Ajax will look to rather sell the player to a club abroad than lose his services to one of their Premier Soccer League rivals, however, it seems that the player has grown impatient with the matter and is determined to move on from the Cape Town-based club as soon as possible.
Coetzee has had his option with Ajax exercised which means that he is under contract until, at least, June of 2018/19. As it stands, the defender is an Ajax player and thus being under contract, has to report for training.
It now remains to be seen whether the club agrees to a transfer deal and if the player will be called into an internal DC for not reporting to pre-season training.
