Mamelodi Sundowns Duo Still Awaiting SA Permit
Two of Mamelodi Sundowns’ strikers are currently awaiting their permanent residency in South Africa before being registered for the 2017/18 Premier Soccer League campaign.
Foreigners, Cuthbert Malajila and Mogakolodi Ngele made their return to the Chloorkop-based club following their loan stints with Bidvest Wits in the 2016/17 season.
With the July/August transfer window recently passing by, Sundowns have indicated that they are set to keep the duo on their books for the 2017/18 campaign.
However, Siya sources revealed that Ngele and Malajila are both still awaiting their permanent South African residency papers in order for the duo to be registered as local players in the Premier Soccer League.
Sundowns have already filled all five of their foreign quota spots with Leonardo Castro, Razak Brimah, Yannick Zakri, Soumahoro Bhangaly and Fares Hachi.
Should the duo, who are eligible to acquire South African citizenship, receive their papers, Ngele and Malajila will subsequently be able to be registered for the 2017/18 campaign as a local player, where Head Coach Pitso Mosimane will look to utilise the player’s services to challenge in the domestic competitions.
The likes of Zimbabwean international, Khama Billiat, Ugandan Denis Onyango and Zambian Kennedy Mweene are all registered as local players as they all have South African citizenship.
