Leonardo Castro Yet To Report To Mamelodi Sundowns Training

By Soccer Laduma - Aug 03, 2017 10:13 AM

Leonardo Castro is yet to report to training at Mamelodi Sundowns, with the player currently in his home country, Colombia.

The Brazilians reported to pre-season duty this week, July 31, after just a three-week break from competitive football.

However, it has since been confirmed to Soccer Laduma by sources in the know that Castro is yet to report to pre-season training with the CAF Champions League winners due to the player being away in his home country awaiting the birth of his child.

Sundowns will get their 2017/18 campaign underway in the quarter-finals of the 2017 MTN8 competition when they host Maritzburg United on Sunday, August, 13.

Masandawana has since confirmed one new signing ahead of the new season, after acquiring the services of Ghanaian goalkeeper, Brimah Razak, however, indications are that the Brazilians are not yet done with their business in the current July/August transfer window.

Head Coach Pitso Mosimane has already hit the ground running with preparations for the new 2017/18 season, but will only have his full squad on hand when Castro reports for club duty.

The club confirmed to Soccer Laduma that the striker’s return date to Mzansi will only be determined after the birth of his child.

Honestly!! We highly need him at Naturena. If I were Bobby I would stop the Argentine trialist Jonatan Philippe and sign Castro. The reason why I like Castro is that... He is not a mobile player like Paez. Castro like to position himself on the Goal-Post. He is always ready for any possible scoring opportunity, and when he got it, he utilise it. So I think the combination of Castro and Paez can be very deadly because Paez is a mobile player, hence he can supply Castro to finish the business. And let not forget Shabba's killer passes. Imagine if you place Castro on the Goal-Post and Shabba provides him with those killer passes.. Honestly Pitso might regret.
