Castro Set To Return To Sundowns
Leonardo Castro Is Expected To Arrive In South Africa Today
Leonardo Castro is expected to arrive in South Africa as early as today, August 29, where he will be reporting back to club duty with Mamelodi Sundowns.
It was previously revealed that Castro was granted extended leave from the Chloorkop-based club as he remained behind in South America to witness the birth of his child.
However, it has since been confirmed to Soccer Laduma that the Colombian will be returning to Mzansi this week, with his immediate future at Masandawana still currently in doubt, according to Siya sources.
It was revealed in previous editions of Soccer Laduma that Sundowns were keen on offloading the player during the current July/August transfer window period in order to cash in on the player and avoid losing him on a free at the end of his deal.
Castro is in the final year of his contract with the Brazilians and at this point in time, it is unlikely that the striker will be putting pen to paper on the new and improved deal which was previously tabled to him by Sundowns.
It was also reported in recent weeks that Chiefs could look to conclude a last minute deal for the player, as Siya sources indicated that Head Coach Steve Komphela is keen on adding the player to his roster.
Now, with just three days to go until the transfer window closes on August 31, it remains to be seen whether a move away from Chloorkop will materialise for the player or if Castro will be donning the Ka Bo Yellow colours when the domestic campaign resumes.
