Kaizer Chiefs Have Advantage To Sign Winger
Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have an advantage in acquiring the signature of former Cape Town City winger, Bhongolethu Jayiya.
The 27-year-old parted ways with the Mother City-based club on June 30, after it was decided that City will not be extending the player’s stay beyond the 2016/17 campaign.
After a riveting first season for the 2016 Telkom Knockout champions, the player is now set to take the next step in his professional football career.
As previously reported on Soccer Laduma, a number of Premier Soccer League outfits have shown interest in the winger, however, it seems that Chiefs may have the upper hand, should they look to approach the player for his services.
Jayiya confirmed to the Siya crew earlier this week that he is aware of reports linking him to Amakhosi and although no one at the club has approached him for his services yet, the player revealed that he will welcome the chance to don the famous colours of the Soweto giants.
“I have seen the reports in the media linking me with Kaizer Chiefs, but no one at the club has approached me or my agent as yet. If they are really interested in me, I will welcome the offer with open arms, why not?” Jayiya told Soccer Laduma at the time.
“Every player wants to wear that Chiefs jersey. It is a great club with rich history. But for now, no one has approached me, but we will see what happens in the coming days or weeks,” he added.
Chiefs have already announced two new signings ahead of the 2017/18 season and as revealed on Soccer Laduma this week, there are a few new faces being assessed by Head Coach Steve Komphela and his technical team.
Now, with the player indicating his keenness to ply his trade for Chiefs, it remains to be seen whether the club will look to bring the player to Naturena.
