Bucs To Lose Out To Baroka For Target?
Jabulani Shongwe Expected To Be Unveiled At New Club
Orlando Pirates could lose out on transfer target, Jabulani Shongwe, with news reaching the Siya crew indicating that Baroka FC is closing in on him.
An indication from Siya sources in the know is that Shongwe is likely to be announced at Baroka before the end of this week.
The midfielder, who has been a transfer target for Pirates for some time, is expected to leave Bidvest Wits during this transfer window.
The 27-year-old has struggled for game time at Wits under PSL Coach of the Season, Gavin Hunt. According to sources, Shongwe is one of the new signings for Baroka that are expected to be unveiled this week.
Contacted for comment on their signings, Baroka's Morgan Mammila said the club will be unveiling a ‘big fish’, but would not give out a name for him.
“We will unveil a big fish. We will unveil him on Friday. I won’t give you a clue, but all I can tell you is that he is a big fish. He will change the value of Baroka FC. If we were worth R50 million, we will be worth over R100 million (with him with us). You will be shocked. I know you will be shocked and ask, ‘How on earth? Why Baroka? Why?’ I’m not going to tell you about him now,” said Mammila.
As reported by the Siya crew, Shongwe has been left behind by Wits, while the team travelled to Stellenbosch in the Western Cape for their pre-season camp.
