Eight Days Left: Kaizer Chiefs To Go In For Leonardo Castro?
Kaizer Chiefs could look to approach Mamelodi Sundowns for Leonardo Castro after Siya sources indicated that the Brazilians are open to the sale of the player.
As reported in issue 1035 of Soccer Laduma, Siya sources have informed the crew that Sundowns are keen to offload Castro in the current July/August transfer window, in order to cash in on the player and avoid losing him on free at the end of his deal.
Castro’s existing contract with Sundowns will expire at the end of June 2018, with the player unlikely to put pen to paper on the new and improved deal which was previously tabled to him by Masandawana.
With the Brazilians keen on the sale of Castro, Chiefs could look to complete a last minute deal to bring the Colombian striker to Naturena before the transfer window slams shut on August 31.
Castro was previously targeted by Amakhosi earlier this year, however, Chiefs subsequently completed the signing of Venezuelan striker, Gustavo Paez, as the possibility of Castro extending his Sundowns stay was still ripe at the time.
However, Chiefs are back on the market for another striker and have recently refused Argentinian striker, Jonatan Phillipe, with indications that Head Coach Steve Komphela has his eye on someone else.
Siya sources since revealed that Chiefs are still keen on Castro’s services and could look to approach Sundowns for the player’s services in the final days of the current transfer window.
