Usuthu Eye New Head Coach
Cavin Johnson Appears To Be A Target For AmaZulu
AmaZulu are believed to have set their eye on former SuperSport United head coach, Cavin Johnson, should they decide to part ways with current man, Joey Antipas.
The Siya crew has been informed that Antipas’ future with Usuthu could be in doubt as they prepare to get their 2016/17 season underway, with the club’s management eager to try and make sure that they stay in the top flight after buying Thanda Royal Zulu’s status.
AmaZulu finished fifth under Antipas in the National First Division last season – fifteen points behind winners, Thanda – but secured their spot in the Absa Premiership by taking over TRZ’s franchise.
While it remains to be seen whether Antipas will be moving on before the season gets underway, Siya sources have revealed that Johnson is the favourite for the position if there is a change in head coaching personnel.
Johnson helped Dikwena reach the CAF Confederation Cup group stages last season, however, the club decided against renewing his contract and he was succeeded by Peter Butler.
The crew did look to contact Johnson to clarify the situation, but he was unavailable for comment.
