‘Committed’ Zungu Heading Back To Portugal
Bongani Zungu Is Heading Back To Portugal Next Week
Despite the rumours surrounding his future, Bongani Zungu’s agent says that the player is looking forward to getting preseason at Vitoria de Guimaraes underway in Portugal.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from Guimaraes of late as teams in the Primeira Liga as well as England and Germany all showed an interest in him, however the Bafana Bafana international maintained that he was happy where he was.
Now, with the player set to report back to his club next week, his agent, Steve Kapeluschnik, says that he’s focused on getting off to a good start in the 2017/18 campaign.
Kapeluschnik told the crew, “Off the back of a great first season in Portugal, Bongani returns to the club next week 100% committed and focused on playing a positive and important role for Vitória de Guimarães during this season's Primeira Liga and very promising Europa League campaign.”
His agent’s comments are in alignment with his recent ones where he stated, "I'm not going to comment on my future at this stage. I'm still a Guimaraes player and, while I'm told there is interest, I will be going back to Guimaraes next month (July) for preseason as things stand.
“I still have one year on my contract and I'm enjoying myself here."
The Siya crew have previously reported that the club are very keen on extending Zungu’s current deal – he has one year left on his contract – and are eager to tie him down on a long-term deal following a string of fine performances in 2017 so far.
