EPL Side Enter Zungu Race

Bongani Zungu Has Attracted The Interest Of Tottenham Hotspur

By Joe Crann - Jun 22, 2017 08:30 PM @YesWeCrann
Talk of Bongani Zungu’s future has been heating up over the last couple of weeks, and now there is another English side believed to be in the running for his signature.

Zungu has had a fantastic 2017 for Vitoria de Guimaraes after breaking into Pedro Martins’ starting XI back in January, with teams across Europe now vying for his signature following his performances for the Portguese outfit.

His goal in the Taca de Portugal final against Benfica turned some more heads in Europe, and the Siya crew has previously reported that Benfica, Porto, Sporting Clube de Portugal, Mainz, Hoffenheim and, most recently, Sheffield Wednesday, had shown an interest.

The crew also revealed earlier this week that an unnamed English club had submitted a bumper bid of €6m (R87m) for the Bafana Bafana international in order to try and circumnavigate the strict UK work permit rules that are in place.

Zungu wouldn’t get a permit based on Bafana’s FIFA rankings position or his amount of national caps, however if the transfer fee and his wages are big enough then he might have a chance with the FA’s Exceptions Panel.

The latest news reaching the crew is that Premier League outfit, Tottenham Hotspur, could be considering a move for the 24-year-old having been watching him during his time with Guimaraes.

Spurs, along with Liverpool and West Ham, were made aware of the midfielder before he signed a precontract with Guimaraes in 2015, but were unwilling to make a move at that point given his lack of European experience.

It remains to be seen which club it was that submitted a €6m bid to his club, or whether they will accept it, but it certainly seems like the future is bright for one of Bafana’s most talented players.

The Portuguese media has reported that his side are eager to try and keep him, although the fact that his contract expires at the end of next season means that they run the risk of him signing a precontract in January and leaving for free.

I would hate Liverpool less if they land Zungu, I believe he would fit in perfectly. Tottehnam would also be great for him but the competetion would be really tight

ORLANDO PIRATES AND SUNDOWNS ENTER THE RACE TO SIGN XULU FROM KAIZER CHIEFS Xulu is spoiled for choice with a list of his admirers growing daily now that he's set to become a free agent Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly joined the race to sign Siyanda Xulu. The South Africa international played for Sundowns before joining Russian outfit FC Rostov in 2012. The Tshwane giants wanted to sign him upon his return from Europe in 2015, but Xulu chose the club his father support. Xulu is among the seven players who were 'released' by Amakhosi last week, but he still hasn't the club due to unresolved issues between the him and the club. iScefe revealed Tuesday that Cape Town City were very interested in the 25-year-old , but with more teams now interested, they will have to put an enticing offer on the table. The KwaMashu-born defender hardly enjoyed his football over the last seasons, with Steve Komphela using Erick Mathoho and Lorenzo Gordinho more at centre-back positions. Xulu turned down a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) during the January transfer window , but little did he know that Amakhosi were planning on destroy him.
