Celtic Midfielder Linked With Overseas Move

Bloemfontein Celtic Midfielder Linked With A Move Overseas

By Soccer Laduma - Oct 02, 2017 02:49 PM

As reported in the latest issue of Soccer Laduma, Bloemfontein Celtic’s Kabelo Mahlasela has linked an overseas move.

As confirmed by sources close to the Mangaung club, Mahlasela is being tracked by a club in Switzerland. The player was heavily linked with a move to PSL giants, Kaizer Chiefs, during the July/August transfer window.

The Sebokeng-born player has been linked with all of the so-called Big Three, in Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. The 26-year-old is in the last year of his contract at Celtic.

The club has attempted to tie their star down on a new contract, however, it is believed that the player is reluctant to sign the new deal with the Mangaung club, with indications that he is on the lookout for a new challenge.

The latest word coming out of the Free State is that Swiss football club, FC Basel, are monitoring Mahlasela’s situation closely and with keen interest.

“FC Basel from Switzerland is monitoring Kabelo Mahlasela. There is interest in the player from them,” said the source.

Mahlasela was an unused substitute during the 1-0 win for Celtic against Bidvest Wits on the weekend.

Basel is a big club in Switzerland and in most cases fared well in champions league, that will be a great move for this boy. Great player though and he just needs to improve his tactical awareness.

Hunt out, Igesund in at Bidvest Wits? iDunu is learnt that Bidvest Wits are considering axing coach Gavin Hunt and replacing him with former Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund. Wits, who are the defending league champions, have started the season on a bad note, winning just one of the opening seven matches. They lost 1-0 to Bloemfontein Celtic this past weekend, and now a source close to Wits tells iDunu that the team management is considering axing Hunt. “The team has not only been losing games, but it’s been performing badly as well, so the management feels that a new man is needed to turn the club’s fortunes. There’s lack of discipline in the team, and it looks like Gavin has lost the dressing room,” said the source. “Talks between Wits and Gordon [Igesund] have already begun, and I think Hunt will be axed soon. But as it is the norm in SA football, they’ll be denials all round,” added the source. Igesund is currently unattached after partying ways with Highlands Park in April after failing to lift the team out of the relegation zone.

It would be a good move for him. Basel play champions league football. It will be good for SA football.
