Bafana Bafana International Linked With Bidvest Wits
Bidvest Wits look to land the signature of Bafana Bafana international, Daylon Claasen, this according to Siya sources close to the club’s dealings.
The 27-year-old plied his trade in Europe for the past nine years, after joining up with Ajax Amsterdam from Ajax Cape Town in the year 2008.
The player’s contract with the German side, 1860 Munich will expire on June 30 and indications are that Claasen is keen on making the move back to his home country, as well as a return to the Premier Soccer League.
As reported over recent times on Soccer Laduma, the winger has previously been linked with the likes Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, with the player’s representative confirming at the time that Claasen’s camp had been in talks with Amakhosi, although nothing progressed.
However, a Siya source has since informed the crew that it is the 2016/17 Absa Premiership champions, Wits who look to be leading the race for the 27-year-old’s signature.
The source has also added that the player’s camp and the Students are set to meet in the coming weeks and if talks and negotiations between the two parties are successful, the club will be expected to make an official announcement about the deal once concluded.
Should the deal be made, it will not be the first time that the Clever Boys will be concluding a high-profile signing on a free transfer. Gabadinho Mhango, Darren Keet and Siboniso Gaxa all joined Wits as free agents.
