Ajax Cape Town confirmed interest in a Cameroonian striker, Christian Joel Ntouba Epoupa.

The Mother City outfit identified the forward as their transfer target during the July/August transfer window.

According to sources close to Ajax, the club was unable to conclude a deal with the player last night, which was the transfer window deadline. The player is currently on the books of Dynamos in the Zimbabwe Premier League.

While reports in Zimbabwe have suggested that Ajax signed the forward on a two-year deal worth R2.5 million, it has been confirmed to the Siya crew by sources close to the Ikamva outfit that no deal for the player was finalised last night.

The Urban Warriors are still interested in the player, and as confirmed by sources, the club will try again for him again in the next transfer window in January.

Epoupa has been impressive with his performances and has an appetite for scoring goals in Zimbabwe. He has netted eight league goals thus far this season.

Epoupa is likely to join his countryman Yazid Atuba in the PSL in the not so distant future. Atuba, who is a Cameroonian midfielder, has been signed by Maritzburg United.
