Mahlambi Makes His Mark On Guimaraes Debut
Phakamani Mahlambi Made His Guimaraes Debut Last Night
Phakamani Mahlambi was a late substitute for Vitoria de Guimaraes against Sporting Clube de Portugal last night.
The 19-year-old is currently on trial with the Portuguese outfit ahead of a possible move before the transfer window closes, and he did well on his first showing as he took to the field in the 3-0 win over Sporting.
Mahlambi came on in the 75th minute as he replaced Guillermo Celis, and less than 10 minutes later helped create the third and final goal of the game as Guimaraes wrapped things up.
Meanwhile, Bongani Zungu played the first half as he continues to impress in Portugal, and he will no doubt be giving Mahlambi some advice on how to make a success of himself at the club going forward.
Another South African, Haashim Domingo, came on in the 87th minute as Guimaraes saw out the game, however, Thibang Phete wasn’t named in the matchday squad at all.
Guimaraes’ season gets underway next Saturday when they take on Benfica in the Portuguese Super Cup.
