Jaisen Clifford, 21, and 20-year-old, Kgaogelo Sekgota, both scored in the competition on the way to Stumbras FC lifting the trophy for the first time in their history, although only Clifford played in the final itself.
Now, following their victory, the duo will both be playing UEL in 2018/19, with the Lithuanian side joining in the first qualifying round of next year’s tournament.
Speaking to the Siya crew after the win, Clifford said, “It’s really a bit emotional for me personally you know because the past few seasons have been tough and then to win my first professional trophy is crazy. It's even better because we were complete underdogs going into the game.
“To be honest, just being in the competition is amazing. I mean, from where I started playing in Mpumalanga to be able to play in an elite European competition... I just can't believe it yet.”
Stumbras will now turn their focus to finishing in the Championship round of the Lithuanian league by getting positive results in their final three games.
