Zungu Takes Mahlambi Under His Wing In Portugal
Bongani Zungu Is Looking After Phakamani Mahlambi In Portugal
Vitoria de Guimaraes midfielder, Bongani Zungu, seems to have taken Phakamani Mahlambi under his wing as the two South Africans teamed up in Portugal this week.
Mahlambi began his trial with Guimaraes on Monday after watching them play in a pre-season friendly on Sunday night, with Zungu putting in a good performance despite the 2-0 defeat to Porto.
The teenager didn’t train with the full team as they rested up following the friendly, however, has since joined up with Zungu and co. as they continue their preparations for the new season.
Mahlambi is currently the fourth South African at the club alongside Zungu, Haashim Domingo and Thibang Phete, and he will be hoping to leave a mark on their head coach, Pedro Martins, as he seeks a permanent move from Bidvest Wits to Europe.
It remains to be seen how long the Bafana Bafana international will be given to impress, however, Gavin Hunt previously spoke of a three-week trial for the talented attacker.
