Brockie Confirms Interest, SA’s ‘Big Three’ Keen
Jeremy Brockie Has Discussed His Future Amid Growing Interest
SuperSport United’s Jeremy Brockie has confirmed that there is interest in his services, although insists he’s focused on the Nedbank Cup final at this stage.
The 29-year-old has been the subject of enquiries by the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs of late, while the Siya crew has also been informed that there is interest in him from the Middle East.
Brockie has been somewhat of a revelation in South Africa since his move two and a half seasons ago, scoring over 40 goals for the club across all competitions.
His form has seen him attract interest from all over the country, with Pitso Mosimane one of his biggest admirers over the last couple of seasons. Sundowns had a R12 million offer turned down for him last year.
Speaking in this week’s Soccer Laduma, the Kiwi said, “Yes, there is definitely interest in my services. My agent has made me aware of that, and I’ve also read the quotes from SuperSport saying that that is the case. At the moment, though, my focus is on the Nedbank Cup final and lifting the trophy with SuperSport. After that, I’ll see what the future holds.
“I’ve been speaking to Mike (Makaab) and he’s doing what he’s paid to do. He keeps me in the loop but he also knows how important the Nedbank Cup final is to me!”
Meanwhile, regarding the appointment of Eric Tinkler and what it could mean, Brockie said, “I haven’t spoken to Eric about whether I’m in his plans or not, but hopefully I (will) get a chance to do so before the off-season.”
