ZESCO Coach's Recon Mission To South Africa

Zlatko Krmpotić Spoke About ZESCO United Against SuperSport United

ZESCO United’s head coach, Zlatko Krmpotić, says that he made the trip to South Africa to scout SuperSport United ahead of tonight’s CAF Confederation Cup game.

The Zambian side takes on SuperSport in the first leg of their CCC quarter-final this evening, and the Serbian is hoping for a strong result to take back to Ndola next week.

ZESCO got to the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League last season before being knocked out by eventual winners, MamelodiSundownss, however, will be hoping to go further in the second tier tournament this year.

Speaking to the Siya crew ahead of this evening’s encounter, the 59-year-old former TP Mazembe assistant said, “I came this year to ZESCO and before I was with TP Mazembe… At ZESCO we started very good and we won the Super Cup, but in the league, we’ve been hot and cold. In the Confederation Cup, we played some very good games but also some games in Angola when we didn’t play well.

“We’re playing SSU, a team who we play with big respect, but we know our goals. ZESCO are playing a Confederation Cup quarter-final for the first time in history, we need to use this chance. Every player is ready, we had some injuries but now is not the time to cry.”

When asked whether he’d managed to gain some knowledge on his South African counterparts, he said, “Yes, I know the PSL, I have watched many games and I know SuperSport United. I come here to watch games… I was here to watch their game against Kaizer Chiefs when they won 2-1 and I also watched the game against Platinum Stars. South Africa is a good league.”

Matsatsantsa Host ZESCO At Lucas Moripe Stadium at 19h00 tonight.
