SuperSport Jet Out For CAF Quarter-Final

SuperSport United Left South Africa For The CAF Confederation Cup

By Soccer Laduma - Sep 22, 2017 08:45 AM
SuperSport United left South Africa this morning as they made the trip to Ndola in Zambia for the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final.

Matsatsantsa drew 0-0 with ZESCO United in the first leg of the clash last weekend, and although they will be wary of the Zambian champions, they will also be confident in their own ability to get an away goal.

Eric Tinkler and his troops got on an early flight this morning ahead of tomorrow’s game and will use Saturday to acclimatise in Zambia and check out their surroundings before taking the field for the match itself.

The encounter will take place at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium at 15h00, with the winner going on to face either MC Alger or Club Africain in the semi-finals of the competition.

ZESCO won only two of their last five home games, and are currently on a five-game winless streak in all competitions, but as semi-finalists in the CAF Champions League last season they are not to be taken lightly.

Mamelodi Sundowns have put their rivalry on hold with SuperSport United as both Tshwane clubs aim to fly the South Africa flag high on the continent this weekend. READ: Onyango aims to keep it clean Sundowns on Saturday face Morocco's Wydad Casablanca in Rabat in the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals. Pitso Mosimane's side won the first duel 1-0 at Lucas Moripe Stadium. READ: Mosimane banking on Ngcongca SuperSport, who left for Ndola this morning, are also in action tomorrow as they revive hostilities with Zambian outfit Zesco United in the last-eight of the Confederation Cup at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. Eric Tinkler's charges were held to a goalless draw on home soil last week. Kekana, who helped Downs win Africa's premier club competition last term, insists the Brazilians are behind their neighbours on this occasion. "I just want to wish Matsatsantsa the best of luck when they face Zesco, Tshwane rea tshwana (we are the same)," said the Brazilians skipper in a video message uploaded by Masandawana on Twitter.
