Matsatsantsa have progressed to the knockout stages of the tournament for the first time after coming second in Group D behind TP Mazembe, and are now tasked with taking on ZESCO for a spot in the semifinals.

While the likes of Sifiso Myeni, Azubuike Egwuekwe and Kissi Boateng were registered after the latest CAF window closed, the Siya crew has been informed that Eric Tinkler did add a quartet of players to his roster before it did.

New signings, Siyabonga Nhlapo and Prince Dube, are two of those players who have been added to the CAF squad, while returnee, Dove Wome, and the newly-promoted Sipho Mbule are also now a part of it.

SuperSport face ZESCO at 19h00 tomorrow evening in the first leg of their CCC quarterfinal.

Pitso in bullish mood ahead of Wydad clash. Pitso Mosimane is in a buoyant mood ahead of Sunday’s Confederation of African Football (Caf) Champions League quarter-final first leg clash against Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco. The match is set to take place at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. “Our journey to reaching this stage of the competition hasn’t been easy. We have become the team to beat this time around, purely based on the fact that we are the defending champions,” Mosimane tolled iself. “Unlike last season, we didn’t have the champions’ title next to our name, but now clubs have studied our strengths and are now are planning better against us. That is what comes with being a champion,” added the former Bafana Bafana coach. Mosimane is aware of the danger posed by the North Africans who were semi-finalists last year, but adds that the Brazilians do not fear Wydad. “I don’t want to underestimate them (Wydad) but at the same time I don’t fear them. “We are playing a team that has a wealth of Caf Champions League experience and can hurt us if we not careful so we need to be highly alert throughout the match. A win here at home is non-negotiable,” commented Mosimane. Mamelodi Sundowns have offered to open the gates free of charge to fans who come to the stadium in Sundowns replicas, and half-price for others.
