Result: SuperSport United 4-1 CF Mounana

Date: 08 July 2017

Venue: Lucas Moripe Stadium

SuperSport United booked their spot in the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals, after they thumped CF Mounana 4-1 in their final Group D encounter.

SuperSport eventually broke the deadlock in the 15th minutes as Aubrey Modiba picked out Bradley Grobler, who headed home from six-yards out.

The lead was doubled after 27 minutes, as Grobler turned provider and played in Thabo Mnyamane, who drilled a low effort into the far corner from just inside the box.

SuperSport continued to dominate and grabbed a third goal in the 34th minute when Jeremy Brockie slotted into an empty net after some fine work by Reneilwe Letsholonyane.

The home side were then awarded a penalty just before the halftime break when Brockie was brought down. The New Zealand striker stepped up and slotted home the spot-kick, 4-0.

Mounana barely threatened Ronwen Williams' goal in the opening 45 minutes, as SuperSport went into the break with a comfortable lead.

However, the visitors pulled a goal back 10 minutes into the second half as Ellessah Mensah skipped past Clayton Daniels before calmly slotting home from close range, 4-1.

SuperSport opted for a double change on the hour mark, as Cole Alexander and Teboho Mokoena replaced Letsholonyane and Mnyamane.

The visitors started seeing a bit more of the ball after 70 minutes and managed to carve out a couple half chances, none of which troubled Williams.

Onismor Bhasera replaced Grobler for the final 10 minutes as SuperSport looked to see out the remaining stages.

Nevertheless, the score remained 4-1 at the full-time whistle, as the Nedbank Cup champions advanced to the knockout round as runners-up in Group D.

Here's how they lined up:

Starting XI: Williams, Kekana, Daniels, Mashamaite, Modiba, Letsholonyane (Alexander 60'), Furman Phala, Mnyamane (Mokoena 60'), Brockie, Grobler. (Bhasera 80').

Who said both teams will reach finals and win? The other team won it via backdoor and that won't happen this time around.

@Boris Becker, if @MIX n MATCH and @Buccaneer 4 lyf were fair, they would tell you that I told them sometime back that nappyrena and Mayfair will be empty handed going into 2017/2018 PSL season.

@lurh yernder, you are fortunate not to have experienced real challenges in your live. Things are not as easy as you think out there. It is not like Bvuma can just wake up and say "I am leaving to join another team" no...he must wait for an opportunity to arise. But that does not give Fau a right to exploit him. Like Punch Masenamela who was on R4000.00 (Four Thousand Rand) monthly salary at Fau, Bvuma must wait for an opportunity to arise.

@setlaboswana This has nothing to do with me ..lot of clubs that Bvuma should have tried for better salary if he was not satisfied with the one he was receiving in Chiefs..

@juju banned lwandle hater, I am also missing Fau queen, @Vongani vs dunudunu/rats, I hope she is alive and kicking, one will never know, the nappyrena based club has a potential of sending its supporters straight to ICU. The sooner they acknowledged prof Komphela 's team is just adding numbers the better.
