CAF Confederation Cup
Result: Horoya 0-0 SuperSport United
Date: 01 July 2017
Venue: Stade du 28 Septembre
SuperSport United managed to clinch a point at Horoya, as the two sides played out a 0-0 draw in their CAF Confederation Cup group clash.
The games was evenly poised in the opening stages of the first half, with both sides getting a feel for the pitch.
Both sides showed attacking intent as the first half went, but they struggled to carve out clear-cut chances in the opening 20 minutes.
SuperSport looked void of creativity in the final third and often resorted to efforts from distance, none of which troubled Horoya goalkeeper, Alseny Bangoura.
Ronwen Williams was eventually called upon in the 33rd minute when he rushed off his line to deny Ibrahima Sankhon in the 18-yard area.
That proved to be the final chance of the half, as the sides went into the break scoreless.
After a quiet start to the second half, Horoya went close to taking the lead in the 60th minute as Yakhouba Mendo raced into the box, before firing an effort inches wide of the upright.
SuperSport responded by making a change in the 63rd minute as Kingston Nkhatha made way for Jeremy Brockie as they went in search of winning goal.
However, it was the home side looked more threatening in the closing stages, as SuperSport hoped to pounce on the counter attack.
Horoya went agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock in the 85th minute, but the upright came to SuperSport's rescue.
Tempers flared in the closing stages after a couple off the ball incidents, but the score remained goalless as the referee brought an end to the second half.
Here's how they lined up:
SuperSport: SuperSport: Williams, Kekana, Daniels, Gould, Modiba (Bhasera 88'), Furman, Letsholonyane, Morton, Phala, Mnyamane, Nkhatha (Brockie 63').
