Mamelodi Sundowns crashed out of the CAF Champions League after losing 3-2 on penalties to Wydad Casablanca.
The hosts enjoyed most of the possession from the onset, while Sundowns had Denis Onyango to thank for denying the Wydad a goal inside the opening 10 minutes.
Wydad continued to pressurise and they were eventually rewarded in the 25th minute when an un-marked Saidi headed home at the far post.
The Brazilians, meanwhile, were finding it tough to get their usual passing game going, which led to a lack of chances.
That proved to be the trend for the rest of the half, as neither club had any joy in their respective final thirds.
While Sundowns failed to register a single effort on target in the opening 45 minutes as they went into the break trailing.
Sundowns squandered a glorious chance to level matters for Sundowns in the 50th minute when Hlompho Kekana fired wide from six-yards out.
Pitso Mosimane's charges looked more threatening in the second half, as Billiat and Tau started seeing more of the ball.
Chances were hard to come by for Sundowns, which prompted Mosimane to introduce Zakri for Billiat in the 73rd minute.
George Lebese was introduced in the 82nd minute as the reigning champions pushed for an equaliser to avoid penalties.
Neither side could find another goal in the closing stages, forcing the clash into a shoot-out, where Tau and Bangaly Soumahoro missed their spot-kicks as Wydad triumphed 3-2.
Here's how they lined up:
Sundowns: Onyango, Langerman, Arendse, Madisha Mabunda, Kekana, Manyisa, Zwane, Morena, Tau, Billiat.
