Mamelodi Sundowns finished second in Group C, after they were held to a 1-1 draw by AS Vita in their final CAF Champions League group match.
The game got off to a fiery start with both clubs signalling their intent to get goals early on.
Sundowns carved out their first real opening after eight minutes when Anthony Laffor played in Yannick Zakri, but Bongaman rushed off his line to deny the Ivorian.
Despite the pacy tempo in the encounter, chances were hard to come by in the opening 30 minutes, which was mostly down to the decision-making from both teams.
However, Sundowns eventually took the lead in the 35th minute courtesy of composed close-range finish from Thabo Nthethe, following a fine pass from Thapelo Morena.
Vita, meanwhile, were finding it tough to break down the Sundowns defence in the opening 45 minutes, as Kennedy Mweene endured a quiet first stanza.
Sundowns threatened in the early stages of the second half and went close after 52 minutes when Fares Hachi picked out Percy Tau, who fired straight at Bongaman from 12-yards out.
The reigning champions went even closer in the 64th minute when Tau's free-kick found Laffor, who saw his volley cleared off the line.
Vita nearly leveled matters five minutes through Yazid Atouba, whose curling effort from distance shaved the crossbar.
However, Atouba was not to be denied in the 79th minute as a clearance landed in the path of the winger, who sent a fine volley past Kennedy Mweene.
Pitso Mosimane repsonded by throwing on Leonardo Castro in the closing stages of the second half as they pushed for a winning goal.
Nevertheless, the visitors managed to see out the final minutes to ensure they left the Lucas Moripe Stadium with a point.
Sundowns end the group stage campaign in second spot, but have already qualified for the quarterfinals.
