Stuart Baxter Eager For Bafana Bafana Youngsters To Get In International Games
Bafana Bafana head coach, Stuart Baxter, is eager for the younger players in the squad to gain international experience as they advance to the third round of the Chan qualifiers.
Bafana defeated Botswana 3-1 in aggregate on Saturday, July 22 and are now set to face Zambia in the final round of the qualifiers.
Speaking to the South African Football Association’s website, the Englishman revealed that he is happy with his side’s performances, however, maintains that the youngsters in the squad are not fully ready.
“If you look at the younger ones that I knew little about, Sandile Mthethwa has been quite impressive as a youngster, Sipho Mbule came in and gave a very mature performance but I knew him from Supersport United, Ryan Moon has done well and could have scored more goals, we also have Jamie Webber,” Baxter told SAFA’s official website.
“The younger ones have thrown their hats in the ring, but are they ready now? No, they are not. But we have Zambia now and the young ones will get a couple of international games.”
Baxter also heaped praise on Sphelele Ntshangase, revealing that he will be keeping an eye out for the player in the future.
“A few of them threw their hats in the ring, for example, Ntshangase is a very talented player that I didn’t know too much about, who I thought can he move up a level? Can he defend? Can he understand coaching, and he answered me and said yes I can. He did a good job. A player like him put his hands up a little bit and said hey just remember me for the future, keep an eye out for me, which I will,” he added.
Bafana will host Zambia on the weekend of August, 11, 12, 13, while the second leg is scheduled for the following weekend.
