Stuart Baxter: Bafana Need To Be Weary Of Botswana Comeback
Bafana Bafana head coach, Stuart Baxter is preparing his charges to face a Botswana side who will be reluctant to hold anything back on Saturday.
Bafana defeated Botswana 2-0 in the first leg of the Chan qualifiers last week, Saturday, July 15, however, will now be dealt with the tough task of keeping their opponents at bay in the second leg which takes place tomorrow, July 22.
Speaking to the South African Football Association’s website, Head Coach Baxter has revealed that he will not be expecting an easy game from Botswana, as the team currently have nothing to lose with Bafana holding a two goal advantage over their neighbours.
“In COSAFA we beat them and we also beat them now in the CHAN, and we did so because we played quite well in two games, but this won’t be an easy game. We are rotating our squad, we are playing in a different way, the players are going to be challenged and if we don’t get our attitude right we could tread on a landmine,” Baxter said.
“I think it’s worth challenging the players in a game where the result is not a foregone conclusion. We are not playing against a team that has no players or a poor coach – we are playing against a team that probably has nothing to lose. My father used to say to me, beware the man who has nothing to lose,” the Englishman added.
