Potential Bafana Debutant: The Senior Team Is No Joke!

The 21-year-old will have enjoyed the last week or so having scored his first professional contract last week and now joining up with Bafana for the first time, and it could be made even better if Stuart Baxter decides to give the Valenciennes man his debut on Saturday against Burkina Faso.
Mothiba, who is on loan from Lille in Ligue 1, has five goals for his current club this season and is focused on playing his part as Bafana seek victory over Burkina Faso.
He told SAFA.net, “It is a good thing to represent your country, but you have to work hard because that pays at the end. This is a special week for me because I scored a hattrick just a few days ago and the following day I had to take a flight to South Africa to honour my first call-up. The senior team is no joke. You have great players here. I am young and I am learning from these guys that I used to look up to.
“We have to focus on the game against Burkina Faso. We have to win the game because we still have a chance to qualify.”
For those who don’t know Mothiba - a Diambars Academy graduate - or the league in which he plays, the youngster is under no illusions about what his role is.
He said, “I am in Ligue 2, which is very good. They are aggressive there. Very fast and it is good for youngsters to get game time and develop. For me, it is about hard work and scoring goals. I am a striker, so that is what I must do. I will have to trust myself and show people what I can do.”
Bafana face the Burkinabe at FNB Stadium tomorrow, with the game kicking off at 15h00.
