Former Orlando Pirates Midfielder Happy To Be Working Under Stuart Baxter
Former Orlando Pirates midfielder, Lehlogonolo Masalesa, is relishing working under new Bafana Bafana head coach, Stuart Baxter and hopes that he will be given the chance to don the famous green and gold colours.
The last time the player was called up to the national team setup, Head Coach Pitso Mosimane was at the helm of the bench, however, Masalesa is yet to earn his first Bafana cap.
Now, after rekindling his professional footballing career following his move to Europe where he is currently plying his trade for the Greek side, AE Larisa, the 25-year-old is eager to represent his country at the COSAFA Cup tournament.
Speaking to the South African Football Association’s website, Masalesa says that he is happy to be back in the Bafana setup and glad to be working under the mentorship of Baxter, a coach which he believes will be able to improve his footballing career on all levels.
“I am really glad to be back, it has been a long time in indeed, in fact back then Pitso Mosimane was the coach, even though I never played a match for Bafana Bafana. I am glad to be working with the new coach because I believe as a footballer, working with someone like him will take me to the next level at club level,” Masalesa said.
“And I am also happy to be part of the national team, and I hope, as we will be participating in the COSAFA CUP, we will do well and make the nation proud,” he added.
Bafana will get their campaign underway on July 02, as they await their opponents in the quarter-finals of the competition.
