Bafana Friendly Cancelled
Bafana Bafana's Friendly Game This Month Has Been Cancelled
Stuart Baxter has confirmed that Bafana Bafana won’t be playing a friendly during the current international break, with Burkina Faso being their only opponent.
When Baxter announced his squad for the upcoming World Cup Qualifier it was explained that a friendly against an undecided nation would take place shortly afterwards, although the Bafana head coach says that it is no longer happening.
South Africa face Burkina Faso at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg this weekend in a must-win encounter, with the team already in camp – aside from Thulani Serero, Lebogang Manyama and Dino Ndlovu – and having their first training session this afternoon.
With Baxter looking to assess some of the new players in the setup such as Lebo Mothiba, he says that they will hold an international 11 v 11 game to give everybody a runout before players return to their club teams.
He told the media on Monday, “Our friendly game has been cancelled. There will be an internal 11 v 11 once we’ve done our recuperation after the Burkina Faso game. That will be for me to monitor all the players.”
Bafana face the Burkinabe on Saturday at 15h00.
