Bafana’s Sandilands: We Know What Is Expected
Bafana Bafana Getting Ready For Must Win World Cup Qualifier
Orlando Pirates and South African men’s senior national team goalkeeper, Wayne Sandilands, is positive that Bafana Bafana can still make progress in their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign.
Stuart Baxter and Bafana are finalising their preparations before hosting Burkina Faso in a must-win World Cup qualifying match at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
Bafana are at the bottom of Group D with one point from three matches. Burkina Faso are at the top of the group with six points from four matches.
Sandilands is positive for Bafana’s chances.
“The mood in the camp is positive. We have been working really hard and know the importance of this game. Sure, this is a tough match but we are looking forward to the challenge and looking forward to a positive result.
“For now we need to focus on collecting points in the matches that we have control over but we will do so one game at a time. We go into this match (against Burkina Faso) well aware of what is expected from us,” Sandilands has been quoted on Bucs’ official website.
As reported, the FIFA-ordered replay between Bafana and Senegal has been set for November 10 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
FIFA decided that Bafana’s 2-1 victory over Senegal last year in November should be declared null and void after match referee Joseph Lamptey was banned for life.
Lamptey was found guilty of ‘match manipulation’.
