The Boys Were Not Mentally Ready

On Bafana Bafana’s loss to Cape Verde
It was a very difficult game for our boys. I personally think that most of the boys were not mentally ready for the game. Take Lebogang Manyama, for example. He is the current PSL Footballer of the Season and he is a star; a player with a lot to offer. But before that game, there was a lot of talk about his future. He was being linked to a number of teams and that took its toll on him, hence he couldn’t perform to the best of his ability. Erick Mathoho is another one that was not mentally ready. Remember he got red-carded against SuperSport United and, going into this game, he still had that in his mind. He was also injured recently, so he was not in the right frame of mind going into this game. Ronwen Williams as well… remember he was in goals when we got hammered 5-0 by Brazil and that surely made him a little bit uncomfortable. He is a good goalkeeper though and he did very well. He just needed a solid defence to protect him.
On the MTN8 second leg semi-final fixtures
It’s going to be difficult. It’s going to be the real Wafa Wafa. Maritzburg United vs SuperSport United is going to be a very difficult game. Maritzburg will want to defend their away goal, while SuperSport will want to score an away goal as early as possible. That game has all the ingredients to be a humdinger. May the best team win. Then you have Bidvest Wits vs. Cape Town City, yho. Wits have lost two games in a row against City. Knowing coach Gavin Hunt, he is a very clever coach. He will use speedy players to unlock City’s defence. City, on the other hand, will have two things in mind – scoring an away goal and defending their slender lead. This is going to be a very difficult game for the coaches and the players, but a very good one for the spectators. I hope the team that plays better wins at the end of it all. Good luck to both Gavin and Benni.
On Supporters Club
We have been preaching and preaching to the supporters to come and join Supporters Club. I’m so happy that what we talk about every day here is getting somewhere. Let those who are not members yet come and join us, as we are taking football in this country to new heights!
