It Brings That Excitement
As part of the preparation for what promises to be a thriller of a season, Kaizer Chiefs, Free State Stars, Platinum Stars and Botswana’s Township Rollers participated in the Bokone Bophirima Maize Cup last weekend.
One could tell that it was still pre-season as the players were not at their best yet because they were still finding their feet.
Nonetheless, the supporters enjoyed it, as there were some moments of brilliance from certain players. The first semi-final saw Free State Stars beating Platinum Stars 1-0, while in the second semi-final, Kaizer Chiefs got the better of Township Rollers, edging them by 2-0.
The final took place later on in the day. Amakhosi were the eventual winners after defeating Ea Lla Koto, courtesy of a George Lebese strike in the 80th minute. The final score was 1-0, which confirmed Chiefs as the champions of the 2017 Bokone Bophirima Maize Cup.
Onto other news… the transfer window has opened and players and coaches have started moving around. This is a period that excites supporters very much, as they get to know who will be joining their respective camps. It brings that excitement and makes all of us look forward to the coming season. We hope that the new PSL season lives up to its promise.
