It’s Too Quiet!

On Bafana winning the Plate Section of the COSAFA Cup
There was an outcry from the supporters about the young and inexperienced team that was selected by the coach. The boys went on to win the Plate. What this all means is that we need to have an understanding of how things work. In the COSAFA Cup, normally they don’t use regulars and it is a platform where different countries introduce young and upcoming players to prepare them for the future. We need to see this Plate trophy as the step in the right direction and something to build on.
On the upcoming 2017/18 PSL season
Things are very quiet and, as supporters, we don’t understand. We want to see teams gunning for signings, fighting for signatures of quality players. For an example, it is the champions Bidvest Wits who have made two big signings in Steven Pienaar and Daylon Claasen. Big teams like Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns haven’t been making headlines in the media. What makes the transfer window exciting is to hear Chiefs fighting with Celtic for the signature of a certain player, for an example, or Sundowns battling it out with Pirates for the signature of a certain player. So far there’s nothing that is leading us to the action. We don’t even argue about who will win the league next season. We need that excitement because it pushes us to go and purchase the jerseys of our beloved teams and look forward to the new season. It gives us something to argue about in the clubs and taverns. It’s boring. It’s too quiet!
On Celtic’s new coach
We welcome coach Veselin Jelusic with warm arms. But now the challenge is, does Veselin understand the culture of South African Football? No, he doesn’t. Does he understand the culture of the team Bloemfontein Celtic? No, he doesn’t. Who is going to sign the players for the club? Clearly not him because he’s new and the surroundings are new to him as well. We hope that the management and everyone involved with the club will give him all the support he needs for him to succeed.
On Supporters Club and the Vision 2017
We need to be more visible and creative about handling the issue of the stadium attendance. We need to identify the real reason why people are not going to the stadium. But most importantly, we need to unite, we need to have one mission, we need to have one vision. To all the football loving people, let us unite.
Till next time
