This Is Really Not On

On SuperSport United winning the Nedbank Cup
Let me congratulate Stuart Baxter and SuperSport United for successfully defending the Nedbank Cup. They have made the people of Pretoria proud. Remember, it is the only trophy that we got this season in Pretoria.
On fan violence
The PSL has to do something about this. Why must Orlando Pirates fight when their team loses? They continue doing this because the PSL does nothing about their behaviour. It has become a norm now. They did the same thing both times against Mamelodi Sundowns, where a Sundowns supporter ended up in Baragwanath Hospital. This is really not on. I remember after the last incident, PSL officials were on Metro FM, where people questioned them and they said they have fined Pirates supporters. My question is, why was the sanction not announced as it is usually the case? Why are they fining them via the back door? The only way for this to stop is for us supporters to come together and march to the PSL offices and demand justice. They should be banned for one game, maybe starting with the pre-season Soweto Derby. Maybe that will be a lesson for them. They have been getting away with hooliganism for a long time now. It has to stop! We had to tell the SuperSport supporters to stay in the stands and wait for Pirates supporters to exit the stadium because we knew that they could get hurt walking out with them.
On last weekend’s Supporters Club tournament
Last weekend we had a Supporters Club tournament in Durban. The turnout was unbelievable. It was ‘wow’ and I would like to thank our sponsor, AVBOB, for donating balls. They helped a lot. The supporters loved the balls. I would like to also thank all the supporters who came out in numbers to our tournament. We really appreciate it. Already there were calls from the supporters asking us to do a second tournament. Rest assured, we will put our heads together and plan it.
On Supporters Club’s Vision 2017
As we all know, Supporters Club’s Vision 2017 is to fill up the stadiums. I think it’s safe to say that we are almost there. I can tell you now that if what we saw towards the end of the 2016/17 season is anything to go by, then midway through the 2017/18 season, our mission will have been accomplished.
Till next time
