Nigeria became the first African nation to qualify for the 2018 World Cup after they defeated Zambia 1-0 on Saturday evening.
The Super Eagles included a number of overseas-based in their line-up, although Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho started on the bench.
The first half proved to be a pretty quiet affair in terms of chances, although Nigeria did go close after 28 minutes when Victor Moses forced Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene into a fine save.
Nigeria opted for a change with 15 minutes remaining in the half, as Mikel Agu replaced Trabzonspor midfielder Eddy Onazi.
The final stages of the first half was a dull affair as the sides went into the break goalless.
With the hosts struggling to carve out chances in the second half, Gernot Rohr introduced Arsenal's Alex Iwobi for Moses Simon.
The substitution paid off as Iwobi profited from a moment of sloppiness from the Zambian defence to slot past Mweene in the 75th minute.
Nigeria managed to see out the closing stages of the second half with relative ease to claim victory that seals their spot in Russia with one game to spare.
