France were left frustrated after they were held to 0-0 draw by Luxembourg in a 2018 World Cup qualifier on Sunday evening.
After a quiet start to the half, Kylian Mbappe carved out a chance for the hosts when he picked out Antoine Griezmann, who fired over the crossbar in the 12th minute.
Paul Pogba went close eight minutes later when he unleashed a powerful effort from distance that forced Jonathan Joubert into a fine save.
Luxembourg were on the back foot from the onset, but they managed to carve out a chance in the 21st minute when David Turpel blazed over the crossbar from close range.
It was one-way traffic in the first half, however the French were let down by their finishing as the likes of Pogba and Thoms Lemar squandered a good opportunities.
That proved to be trend for the rest of the half, as the sides went into the break goalless.
The second half started off slowly and the French had to wait until 58th minute for their first chance when Griezmann fired wide of the target from inside the box.
Didier Deschamps opted for a double change on the hour mark, as Alexandre Lacazette and Kingsley Coman replaced Giroud and Mbappe.
The hosts went agonsiningly close to to breaking the deadlock in the 77th minute when Pogba's looping crashed onto the crossbar.
France continued to push for a winning goal in the closing stages of the second half but they were unable to carve out a clear-cut chance and were forced to settle for a point.
