Brazil had some incredible players throughout the years, including Ronaldo, Pele, Neymar and Ronaldinho, but the Selecao also lost a few great talents to other countries and could now miss out on another one.

The Samba nation are still the most successful one in football history, having lifted five FIFA World Cups – more than any other country. But throughout the years, they lost players such Diego Costa and Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara.

Costa was born in Brazil and even represented his country of birth in two friendlies against Italy and Geneva in July 2013, coming off the bench twice, but decided to switch allegiances to Spain just three months later.

The wantaway Chelsea striker qualified for Spanish citizenship after living in the European country for more than five years and made his Spain debut in February 2014, representing La Roja 16 times since.

Napoli midfielder Jorginho, who made 125 appearances for the club, could become the next star to follow Costa’s example, as suggested by his agent Joao Santos.

The 25-year-old was born in Brazil but moved to Italy in 2010 and could still be called up by Italy for a competitive fixture.

“Maybe (Italy coach) Giampiero Ventura doesn’t need a player of his characteristics right now,” Santos told Tuttomercatoweb.

“If the Ventura changes his mind, Jorginho would be available (for Italy). As a Brazilian though, I’d love to see him play for Brazil.”

Jorginho made his Italy debut in a friendly against Spain in March 2016, appearing for one minute, before making his second appearance against Scotland two months later.

However, the defensive midfielder has not yet represented Italy in a competitive fixture and could still be called up by his native country Brazil.

Talents needs to be groomed from the grass roots level. If a country does not have sound youth development programmes, then getting other nationals will be a temporary solution. This country has got all the resources, what us required is just a work plan that we see us generating top class players in the mould of Benni, Lucas Radebe, Mark Fish, Torvey, Tinkler, Doc Khumalo, Phil Musinga, Steve Pnr

Brazilian Franceildo Silver Dos Santos played for Tunisia,Brazilian Alessandro Santos known as just Alex played for Japan and they were both very influential in those national teams,I like this Maritzburg Ghanian-German captain Dennis Weidlich he is way better than Mathoho and Gould combined and never represented any senior national team he may be useful in that problematic position if he can be convinced to represent Mzansi, and remember that's my opinion, what do you think fellow South Africans?
