According to The Sun, the Blues are due to complete the signing of Roma and Germany defender Antonio Rudiger.

It has been reported that the Serie A star will undergo a medical in Los Angeles while on holiday in the US.

The 24-year-old, who helped his country lift the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia last week, is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte apparently wants to bring in another central defender to create some competition in his squad.

The Stamford Bridge side officially released club legend John Terry earlier this week, freeing up a spot in the Blues' squad.

The Germany international was also linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Pep Guardiola's Manchester City over the past few months.

Rudiger made 36 appearances for Roma last season, scoring one goal and assisting four further strikes in all competitions.
