Atletico Madrid Close To Unveiling R953m Diego Costa
Wantaway Chelsea striker Diego Costa is reportedly on the verge of once again being unveiled as an Atletico Madrid player.
According to Spanish publication AS, the Spain international had a medical with the Rojiblancos on Thursday morning, and the deal could be announced over the weekend.
It has been claimed that the Spanish side have agreed a deal worth €60 million (R953 million) with the Stamford Bridge club, which would make Costa the La Liga outfit's most expensive signing ever.
The 28-year-old, who has fallen out with Antonio Conte, has refused to return to the Blues' training ground this season in a bid to force a move back to his former club.
The troubled striker has not played a single minute of competitive football since Spain's 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Macedonia in June.
If the deal is completed, Costa will be able to train with his new teammates as soon as possible, but will only be able to play for Atletico after their transfer ban is lifted in January.
If he does exit Stamford Bridge, the Brazil-born forward would be leaving Chelsea with a mixed legacy as he helped the team lift two Premier League titles, but also had his fair share of discipline issues.
