Ronaldo Responds To Tax Fraud Allegations

Ronaldo Responds To Tax Fraud Allegations

By Soccer Laduma - Jul 31, 2017 05:28 PM

Real Madrid superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo released a statement after he spent time in court answering questions with regards to allegations of tax fraud.

According to ESPN FC, prosecutors at Spanish tax agency, Hacienda have put together a case arguing that Ronaldo and his entourage routed image rights income through a network of companies to avoid paying  taxes from 2011 to 2014.

However, after sitting through 90 minutes of questioning, the Los Blancos superstar released a statement saying that he never hid anything.

"I have never hidden anything, nor have I ever had the intention of evading taxes," Ronaldo said in the statement.

"The Spanish Treasury knows the details of all my income because we have given it to them.

"I always do my tax returns voluntarily because I think we all have to declare and pay taxes according to our income.

"Those who know me know what I ask my advisors: to have everything up to date and properly paid because I don't want problems."

The statement also denied claims that Ronaldo created a special company to deal with his images rights.

"When I signed for Real Madrid, I did not create a special company to manage my image rights, but kept the same one that managed them when I was in England," he continued.

"Lawyers recommended by Manchester United created it in 2004, long before I thought of coming to Spain. The one used was usual in England and was verified by the Treasury and ratified that it was legal and legitimate."

The player's advisor also say they will no longer comment on the matter and let the law decide the outcome.

"Now is the moment to let justice do its work," he said.

"I believe in justice and I hope that, also in this case, there is a just decision. And with the goal of avoiding any unnecessary pressures or contributing to any kind of 'parallel justice,' I have decided that I will not make any more comments about this issue until the decision is made."

Let the case go on.....fools here needs to know, much like wealthy ppl in the world who just do anything possible to avoid tax.....the Tax Revenue establishments globally, they will do everything to drain as much more tax as possible. So in almost all rax cases, there is no objectivity. Let the courts adjudicate all let everyone grant respect to the outcomes of the legal process. If he believes he has done nothing wrong (unlike Messi who accepted a settlement), let him go all out and the Taxman prove him guilty......if they are driven by a just legal perspective.
