Reports: Neymar Accepts Offer To Leave Barca

Reports: Neymar Accepts Offer To Leave FC Barcelona

By David Kappel - Jul 19, 2017 09:46 AM @kappilinho

FC Barcelona superstar Neymar has reportedly accepted an offer from Paris Saint-Germain after seemingly growing unhappy at being in Lionel Messi's shadow.

The French giants are apparently prepared to pay the 24-year-old's massive €222 million (R3.3 billion) release clause, as reported by Brazilian journalist Marcelo Bechler.

Neymar's potential move to PSG is expected to be made official in the next two weeks, according to Esporte Interactivo's Bechler.

The skilful winger reportedly wants to become the main star at another club and prove he can rival current teammate Messi for the biggest individual accolades.

Neymar finished third in the running for the 2016 FIFA The Best Men’s Player award, behind Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and many feel he has to leave the Catalan giants to overtake his teammate and the Portuguese.

A potential €222 million deal would more than double the current world transfer record belonging to Paul Pogba, when he joined Manchester United for €105 million (R1.56 billion) last season.

Neymar has made 186 appearances for the Blaugrana since joining the club for €88.2 million (R1.3 billion) in 2013, scoring 105 goals and assisting another 80 strikes, and lifting nine trophies along the way.

Do you think Neymar could really leave Barca? Have your say in the comments section below.

@The Lecturer won't argue with u, you just a newbie with less international football so just suit yourself. European football started beyond 2010 when you started following it as you've never watched CL without PSG. Foolishness is you arguing when you have less european knowledge of football. This you can simple go and google it, rather than making yourself a fool on SL.

@MGG06...Stop talking foolishness with me. You admit that a football club's greatness has to do with achievement but you still want to continue saying stupid things like Manu is bigger than Bayern. Manunited benefit a lot from the pull EPL has on sponsors or investors otherwise they would be bankrupt by now considering all their poor displays on the pitch. And to be a successful club historically compare to teams like Mancity in a league like that counts in their favor, even though that means nothing in Europe. It's different with teams like Barça that don't depend on the pull a league has on sponsors to be rich but are becoming so through the pull themselves have on sponsors as a well marketable brand, with prestige, glamour, rich history, beautiful football and more. The same goes for Bayern. You don't even know me to assume that I only started watching football from 2011. You sound like a real idiot for me to be continuing this debate with you. Manunited is a smaller club to Bayern idiot....swallow it !!!!

@The Lecturer common sense, what makes clubs great? achievement. Valuable has to do with money you say. What leads to a club having lot of money? The brand and how big it is. That why you will never find teams like Man City and PSG as being the most valuable, they have the money. But their brands not as big as United, Barca and Real. You just unfortunate that you started watching euro football in 2011. Otherwise you will know that Barca went through the same phase Man U are in now before 2004, yet they were still regarded as a one of europe's best. Man U are just going through a phase, but still one of the best 3 teams in world football, not in performance but the name its self. Can't be comparing them to the likes of PSG, who are still new.

@MGG06, for the last time before I go to sleep. The most valuable club has to do with money not greatness. Football is sport not business. Business is part of football but it is not a measure of football clubs greatness. And besides money Manunited is nothing. What's the point of having money when you're not going to attract big superstars from bigger clubs anyway? Bayern Munich is far ahead of Manu in terms of greatness as a club. The big three of Europe are Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.

@The Lecturer fact that you've never watched CL without PSG just concluded that you've just started following european football in recently, the rise of PSG only started in 2011 when the were bought by their current Qatar owner. Before 2010 they were way behind teams like Marseille and Lyon. So they nowhere close to what Man U are, not even close sides like Ac milan, Arsenal, Liverpool etc. Form doesn't make you big. I'm not a Man U fan, but if you talk of most valuable team you talking about Man U, Barca and Real. When you talk big teams you talking about those three.

His real mantle will be tested outside barCOW, I said that before, I still say it now. He has the capacity to challenge Ronaldo and Messi head-on, but not whilst he plays in the shadow of Messi. Here is a moment in his life where he will be able to stand up tall and be noticed distinctly...........Its up to him to prove to the world that he is the real deal. For now (at barCOW) he is just a "good player".

@MGG06....Europe big names are Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich. I have never seen a single season without PSG in Europe but the absence of Manu has become normal. Manu is a big name in Europe ? Please !!!!!

@Begwell even if Man U can not win CL or EPL, they'll be a bigger side than PSG. If you you've followed football for a while you will know than in the past PSG were not even one of the top teams in France. The league was always between Lyon and OLM. PSG were sold to wealthy person in recent years who invested so much and now they look like they've been around for a while.

@Thierry Henry common sense. Soccer is team sports, every player needs good players around them to shine. Same reason that has resulted in Messi archiving things at Barca and failing to do so at Argentina, the quality isn't the same. He's a good player but the players he's playing with at Barca make him shine.

@The Lecturer when talking about best 3 teams in europe in terms of names you referring to Man U, Barca and Real. And I'm not referring to current form, Man U are way bigger club than PSG. And the leagues on their own makes a huge difference. Forget current form when you talk about bigger sides in europe PSG won't even make top 10.
