Neymar Camp Claims FC Barcelona Owe Him Money
Brazil superstar Neymar and his representatives have hit back at his former employers FC Barcelona, claiming that they owe him money.
The Catalan club announced on Tuesday that they would be suing the 25-year-old over a bonus payment triggered when he signed a new five-year deal with the club in October 2016.
Neymar and his legal team have now released a joint statement confirming that they will fight the case in court, and claimed that Barcelona still owe the player part of the 2016 renewal premium.
"We inform everyone that Neymar and his lawyers are aware of the news released today regarding the legal actions filed by FC Barcelona before the Courts of Barcelona," the statement read, according to Marca.
"Following official notification and after a full review of the club's claim, the player's formal defence will be filed in due course.
"Regarding the bonuses owed for the execution of the contract of 2016, it is also necessary to inform that the player has already initiated the formal procedures of the collection before the competent courts."
