The Spanish giants have been heavily linked with a few top players ahead of next season, including Marco Verratti, Ousmane Dembele and Hector Bellerin.
Brazilian midfielder Paulinho is also said to have attracted interest from the Catalan club, as has Benfica right back Nelson Semedo.
Despite the talk, however, the Barca board are yet to secure a marquee signing ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, which Diario Gol claims has irritated Messi, especially regarding the club's seemingly lax pursuit of Dembele.
It is believed the Argentine sees the young French international as a great talent, and if the club decide to wait another year to lure him to Spain, his price could rise substantially.
Dembele is likely to be a part of France's squad at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, and if he performs as he did for Borussia Dortmund last season, he could command a transfer fee of more than £70 million (R1.1 billion).
